Kenneth 'Hippie' Lewis

Kenneth 'Hippie' Lewis Jr, 69, of Paxton passed away peacefully at 10:48AM Monday March 18th 2024 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana. The Visitation will be from 10:00-12:00 on Saturday, March 23 at Owens Funeral Home (101 N. Elm St) in Champaign, with the funeral service at 12:00. Interment will be at at Ingram Cemetery in White Heath. Rev. Dave Rees will officiate. 

Hippie was born on May 10th 1954, to Elsie Ensign and Kenneth Lewis Sr, in Champaign IL. Hippie graduated from Centennial High School in 1972.

He met his significant other, Monica Pheris, in 2002, she survives. 

Hippie is survived by his six children, Scooter, Harley, Lacie (Garrett), Cheyenne (Zack), Melissa (Daniel), Tamara, grandfather to 12, and great grandfather to 4. He is also survived by his 4 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie, and father, Kenneth. 

Hippie was a member of Stonecold Motorcycle Club for over 40+ years. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle attending poker runs such as Wishes on Wheels, and other surrounding runs in the Champaign county community. He was an avid fan of NHRA, WWE wrestling, and laughing along the nonsense of Jerry Springer and Maury that he watched religiously every day. 

A lot of people would say that Hippie meant business and wasn’t afraid to say what needed to be said. But inside, he was the biggest teddy bear and loved everyone who knew him. He was never a stranger and would give the shirt off of his back if he knew you needed it. 

He will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and brothers in his club.
