Rosemary Coffey, 85, of Champaign died at Meadowbrook Health Care in Urbana on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Rosemary was born on July 26, 1938 to Joseph and Linda Fleming in Springfield. There she attended St. Agnes Church and School and Sacred Heart Academy. Rosemary married William Coffey on June 16, 1962 and they moved to Champaign, where they raised their 3 children, Daniel, Gary and Kathleen.

She is survived by 2 sons, Dan (Kim) and Gary (Jill); 6 grandchildren, Ashlie, Alyssa, Sean, Abby, Carrie and Kyle; 8 great grandchildren (and 1 on the way), Ethan, Emilee, Sophia, Javien, Braxten, Andrew, Macie and Kellan.

Rosemary was preceded in death by a brother, Charles (at the age of 1); her husband, Bill; her daughter, Kathleen and her parents.

She worked as a secretary for Northwestern before finding her place in the Holy Cross Parish office, where she worked for over 30 years. In her time as office secretary, you could always count on Rosemary to ensure that everything would run smoothly as she was a dedicated member of the Holy Cross family. Even in retirement, she continued to be an active parishioner at Holy Cross, attending daily Mass and participating in all church activities. Rosemary was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Everyone who knew Rosemary knew that she was a lifetime fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Fighting Illini. She was also a big supporter of her children and grandchildren, supporting all of their activities and sports teams. Two of Rosemary's favorite sayings were "You can't pray and worry at the same time" and "Love you more".

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Holy Cross Church or School, St. Mary's Cemetery or a charity of the donor's choice.
